Dr. Ben Carson, Secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development visited the Sanderling Dialysis Clinic of Nashville where he met with patients and staff. He saw first-hand, the results of Sanderling’s public-private partnership with the Metropolitan Development Housing Agency.
The Sanderling-MDHA partnership has focused on training people to become Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technicians (CCHT’s) who can then provide in-home hemodialysis to patients who don’t have a family member to assist with home dialysis. This unique program has succeeded in allowing more than 60% of Sanderling’s patients in Nashville to receive hemodialysis at home, compared with the US national average of less than 3% receiving home hemodialysis.
